Having struggled with low mood and anxiety for as long as I can remember, I received official diagnoses of depression and anxiety disorder in 2016. I went through several rounds of various talking therapies which, despite providing some temporary relief, I found frustrating as they never addressed the root cause of why I was suffering. The bad feelings and lethargy never fully went away. It was only when I began studying Nutrition at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, that I discovered how closely linked many of my symptoms were to the foods I was and was not eating. By making certain swaps or additions I was able to take back control over my feelings, thoughts and wellbeing, enabling me to become the calm and joyful person I never thought I could be.
